JUNE 2008 NEWSLETTER

FINALS RODEO INFORMATION

Enclosed you will find the Finals entry blank along with an agenda for the week of the finals.  Remember, it is going to be your responsibility to check the web site or call me to confirm that you have made the top 25 in each individual event that you compete in. If there is a tie in the 25 & 26 position, then both will qualify. Once you have confirmed your standings, you will need to fill out this entry blank, along with your fees and mail it back to the TYRA office by July 7th, 2008.

The running order for the finals will be as follows:

            Tuesday – Bottom 10 ropers (25-16) Bottom 15 speed (25-11)

            Wednesday – Top 15 ropers (15-1) Top 10 speed (10-1)

            Thursday – Top 15 ropers (1-15) Top 10 speed (1-10)

            Friday – Bottom 10 ropers (16-25) Bottom 15 speed (11-25)

            Saturday – Short Go

RESERVATION INFO FOR STALLS & RV HOOKUPS

There is a call-in sheet also included for making your reservations for Stalls and RV hookups.  You will need to follow their instructions for making these reservations.  TYRA does not handle any of this.

REPORT CARDS

This year the TYRA Board of Directors is requiring you to send in your Final Report Card.  If you do not send in your report card by the due date of July 7th,  then you will not be allowed to compete at the FINALS Rodeo.

RAFFLE TICKETS

Don’t forget to turn in your extra Raffle Tickets at the finals rodeo.  Your first two books should have already been turned in at the last benefit rodeo in Gonzales.  Again this year, the high ticket seller will win $300.00, second highest seller wins $200.00 and third high seller wins $100.00.  Also, any contestant that sells $200.00 worth of tickets will receive a TYRA Satin Jacket.  Any contestant selling $400.00 or more will receive a TYRA letterman’s jacket.

SPONSORSHIPS & DONATONS

If anyone is selling sponsorships or seeking donations, we need to have this information as soon as possible, in order to have their banners made or have them listed in the Finals program.  As an incentive this year, if any member brings in $10,000.00 or more in donations, we will present that member with a custom made saddle.

BENEFIT RODEO’S HELD IN GONZALES

On behalf of the TYRA Board of Directors and myself, we would like to Thank everyone who helped in any way with the two Benefit Rodeo’s that were held in Gonzales, TX.  A special thank-you to the directors and parents who helped for countless hours setting up barrels and poles, untying calves, pushing calves, opening gates, kept times, announced and all of the other tiring aspects of putting on these rodeos.

I know that we were not able to provide All Around Awards at these benefit’s, but I think these kids that did win over all should at least have the bragging rights.

Congratulations to the following:

Sub-Jr. Girl:                 Bailey Bennight
Sub-Jr. Boy:                Reid Zboril
Junior Girl:                  Stormi Crouch and Emorie Mazoch

LIVE AUCTION & DANCE

This year we are going to hold a Live Auction right after the Mandatory Contestants meeting in the arena on Tuesday July 29th, 2008.  We are asking our members, past, present, future and families to help us make this an awesome auction.   If anyone has anything they could add to the auction, it would be greatly appreciated.  Just bring it with you to the finals. As in the past, there will be a dance featuring Alys and Rudy Band on Friday night.  This dance is held as a fund raiser for the TYRA Scholarship Fund.  I hope everyone brings their dancing shoes and helps to make this a success for the Scholarship Fund.

TACK BINGO

Tack Bingo will be held under the Pavillion at 11:00am on Thursday.  Be sure to bring your lawn chair.  If anyone has any tack, snacks, games, trinkets, or anything that would be fun to win while playing bingo, please bring them with you as well.  This is always so much fun to play and the more stuff we have the longer we can play “BINGO”

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

There will be a general membership meeting on Sat. Aug. 2nd , 2008.  The time has not been set yet for this meeting but I am pretty sure it will be in the morning. All Rodeo clubs are asked to send three representatives to this meeting.  Please remember to bring your voting cards with you.  Also, you will need to pay your 2009 Club Dues of $175.00 and submit your dates for the 2009 season.  Please pick three dates that would work for your club in order of first choice, second choice and third choice.

JOHNNY POWELL SPORTSMANSHIP BALLOT

One more thing that is also included is your Johnny Powell Sportsmanship Ballot.  Please look over this ballot closely and vote for the one member that you feel has shown outstanding sportsmanship throughout his/her rodeo career.  Remember, it is an honor just to be nominated for this award and I would like to congratulate these six outstanding seniors for this special honor.  Please return this Ballot with your entry on July 7th.

 ****************************************************************

I would like to thank everyone for all the kinds words, gestures and support this year and in the years past, I am truly going to miss all of you.  Ya’ll are a great bunch of people to work with.  If I can ever be of any assistance, please feel free to call me.

See ya’ll soon,
